Certificate III in Painting & Decorating This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating in the residential and commercial construction industry

Course duration

Apprenticeship training term is 36 months.

Recognition of prior learning

Students can apply for recognition of prior learning for individual unit/s of competency or a credit transfer may apply for unit/s of competency

Assessment method

Assessment method will include a mix of theory and practical components in the workplace or simulated work environment. Students will require time for independent study to complete their knowledge assessments.(Theory work)

What does the course involve?

This qualification have core units of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry as well a specialist field of work.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of unit CPCCOHS1001 of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site.

Delivery method

All delivery options include workplace flexible delivery specific to the needs of the employer and apprentice. Offsite delivery at our training centre when no workplace is available to complete specific tasks, a simulated workplace has been created to meet these requirements.

Student eligibility

The Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (CPC30620) is offered as a VTG (Victorian Government) funded qualification for eligible students (offered by AWCI ANZ through Apprenticeship arrangements). It is also available for a very reasonable fee for workers who do not meet the VTG funding eligibility building

Qualification requirements

To meet the packaging rules and attain the qualification, a total of 29 units must be successfully completed. 26 Core Units and 3 Elective Units

  • CPCCPD2011 Handle and store painting and decorating materials

Course outcome

Upon successful completion of apprenticeship, students will receive a Qualification in (CPC30620) - Certificate III in Painting and Decorating. If the qualification is not completed, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for the units(s) of competency successfully completed.
